Soft knits, warm neutrals, and a newborn tucked close to the people who love them. This collection brings together the little details of a new baby and the first portraits of a growing family.

I’m Queenie, the photographer behind Dear Jassa Photography in Markham. I bring lighting, backdrops, wraps, and props to clients’ homes to create studio-style newborn portraits, with parents and siblings joining as part of the newborn session.

Soft textures, tiny details

A woven basket, a fluffy bear-ear bonnet, and a little knitted toy give the first portrait its cosy feel. The pale wrap and warm wood tones keep the focus on baby’s face.

For the close-up, delicate lace and a simple floral headband frame those sleepy lashes, tiny fingers, and soft cheeks. These are the details I love preserving before they change.

A little pause in Mum’s arms

I always love making room for a portrait with Mum. Here, baby rests against her shoulder, wrapped in the same soft neutral tones. A simple backdrop lets their faces, the gentle hold, and those tiny toes tell the story.

You do not need to know how to pose. I’ll guide you through comfortable ways to hold your baby so you can be in the photographs, too.

Welcoming baby into the family

The family portrait brings everyone together: Mum and Dad holding baby close, with an older sibling leaning in beside them. Their dark, simple clothing works beautifully against the warm backdrop, drawing attention to their smiles and the little one in their arms.

Parents and siblings can be included in your newborn session, depending on the package. Family photographs are offered only as part of a newborn booking, so we can document this new chapter together with baby’s individual portraits.

Studio-style newborn photography in your home

You don’t need to travel to a studio for portraits like these. I bring the setup to you, including professional lighting, so a room with beautiful natural light is not essential. We plan the colours and space together, and leave time for feeding, settling, and cuddles.

Simple, coordinated clothing keeps the focus on your faces. This family’s dark clothing and baby’s pale wrap are a lovely example. We can talk through colours before your session.
