Consultation

Have questions about the session, props, pricing packages, or anything else newborn photo-related? Ask away and I will guide you through the process. I love answering questions, and the more you ask, the more we will be able to prepare thoroughly for the session.

When you are ready to book your session, you’ll receive a contract to sign and submit a non-refundable retainer of $250 to secure your tentative date (we’ll finalize the date after your baby is born). The remaining balance will be due at the time of your session.

Pre-Session

If you have a vision for your newborn portraits, I’ll bring it to life! We will go over the colours of the backdrop and wraps, the style of your session, and the props. I always prepare 2-3 prop setups for you to preview before your session. A newborn photo session preparation guide will be sent to you before the session.

The most important thing to do before your session is to contact me as soon as your little one arrives so we can confirm the date of your newborn photo shoot. I usually schedule sessions when the baby is about 10-16 days of age. Babies tend to sleep most of the time in the first two weeks after they are born, so this is a perfect time to get those sweet sleepy portraits.

During the Session

The day has arrived! I’ll bring everything to your home including the equipment I need and the props and items we agreed on during your planning. Not only will I be taking portraits in your home for your convenience but I’ll be handling and soothing your baby for most of the session, so during this time you can rest and relax.

After Your Photo Session

Within 3~7 days after your newborn photo shoot, you’ll receive a link to your non-edited images proofing gallery. You will pick your favourites based on the number of images included in the package you purchased. I’ll then take time with your final selected high-definition images to finely edit them and deliver them to your gallery. You’ll be able to download them for album printing or send them to your family and friends.

• How long does an in-home newborn session last?

It depends on the package chosen. Sessions can range from 2–4 hours depending on the session. However, I will not end the session without finishing all the finalized props, even if it goes beyond the time shown in the proposal.

• How should we prepare our home for the session?

Choose a cozy space with minimal direct sunlight. We bring lighting equipment or can create soft, diffused light. Keep your home warm for your baby's comfort.

• Do we need to provide props and outfits?

No – Dear Jassa Photography brings a curated collection of wraps, headbands and props. You can also include sentimental items like blankets or heirlooms.

• When is the best time to schedule our in-home newborn session?

Please book your session roughly three months before your due date to secure a spot, as I accept only a limited number of in-home newborn sessions each month.
